Fall at The Showcase of Citrus

It’s pumpkin season in Florida! Chris and I usually pick out one pumpkin patch/corn maze/Fall festival each October to check out. This year, we chose the Showcase of Citrus in Clermont.

The Showcase of Citrus is a family owned and operated 2,500 acre farm that grows over 50 varieties of citrus fruit. Wow! Besides growing and selling citrus, the farm is open to visit daily. They have a variety of family-friendly activities including gem mining for the kids, food trucks, an adorable petting zoo and general store selling everything from unique wines, bath soaps, jams and jellies. You can even take a tour through the groves on a giant monster truck!

During our visit last weekend, our main priority was to find some pumpkins to decorate our porch with. The farm was decked out in everything Fall and packed with visitors when we arrived. The first thing we did was a quick walk-through of the many rows of pumpkins they had for sale. A few caught our eye, but we didn’t end up purchasing any. I’m pretty particular about my pumpkins, only buying ones that are quirky looking.

Next, we tried their version of the Dole Whip, which was vanilla soft serve layered with fresh orange juice. Theirs is called a creamsicle. It was very delicious and so refreshing since it was a very warm day. After that, we strolled around the general store, checking out all of the items for sale. Almost everything is made locally in Florida and in small batches. If you’re looking for the perfect Florida souvenir to take home, this is the place to find it!

Our last stop, and my favorite thing on the farm, was the petting zoo. If you know me, you know that I much prefer animals to anything else in this world. They have several goats, pigs, cows, miniature horses and an emu! You can purchase cups of carrots and other veggies to feed the animals. If the weather was cooler, I could have spent most of the day just petting the goats. They were so cute!

The Showcase of Citrus is a unique place to check out if you’re looking for something to do for a few hours in central Florida. I’d like to go back and try some of their wines and check out how they decorate the farm for Christmas!
